For Coaches

CTSC Information for Coaches

As the season begins, please remember the following:

  1. Please leave fields the way you found them. If you move goals, please return them to where you found them.
  2. Goals must be anchored while in use. You risk serious injury or death by not properly anchoring the goals. Players should never be allowed to play on the soccer goals or hang from the cross bar.
  3. Please make sure players take responsibility for picking up water bottles, trash, and anything else they bring to practice and games with them.
  4. Latest version of practice schedule is included. Please be respectful of others’ practice times.
  5. Please set a parents’ meeting before the first game. See Sample Parent Meeting Agenda.
  6. Game Day:
    • The first game of the day sets the corner flags out for your field.
    • Last game of the day puts the corner flags away.
    • Goals must be anchored.

  7. This year we will continue to reimburse head coaches for league game ref payments up front.
  8. Please report damaged or missing equipment to the Equipment Manager.

Playing Time

U9-U11
Soccer Maine mandates playing time for U11 and below to be at least 50% of each game for all players. This is strictly adhered to and enforced by CTSC.
U12
Playing time at U12 is not mandated by Soccer Maine, but as CTSC continues to have balanced teams at U12, the CTSC philosophy is to strive for playing time to be at least 50% for all players during the season, and the strongly suggested guideline is a minimum of 10-15 minutes per half for each player.
U13-U14
Playing time at U13 and U14 is not mandated by Soccer Maine, but the CTSC philosophy is that all players should be playing in every single game, and the strongly suggested guideline is a minimum of 10-15 minutes per half for each player. If a player attends a game and is not injured, then they should be played during the game.
