FAQs

What is CTSC?

The Coldbrook Travel Soccer Club (CTSC) is a competitive soccer program based in the towns of Hampden and Hermon in the greater Bangor, Maine area. CTSC teams play other clubs throughout the state during the spring and fall. All teams participate in the Soccer Maine Fall League.

How long does the season last?

The season begins in late August and ends by the first week of November. Teams also participate in festivals (U9 and U10), tournaments and playoffs after league play is finished.

How do I play?

CTSC holds evaluations in May while registration is open. See the Info page for links to more information about how to get started with CTSC.

How old do I have to be to play?

CTSC has teams ranging from U8 to U14. To determine which team your child would play on, calculate the age they will be on August 1st of the Fall season.

What does it cost to play?

The cost for 2023 is $175 per player, which covers the cost of training, insurance, referees, equipment, and two tournaments. The cost for each additional sibling is $150. A uniform has to be purchased separately. This uniform can be worn from year-to-year.

When are the games played?

Games are generally played on Sundays with an occasional game occurring on Saturdays.

How far is the travel?

All teams will be playing in the Northern district for the regular season. Home games are played in Hampden. The Northern district includes clubs from places like Bangor, Camden, Waterville, and Augusta, so away games may require travel to these towns. For the older players (U12 and up), travel will possibly be further for the playoffs or teams playing within D-1, but all playoff games are held within the state and early rounds are generally local.

In addition, teams play in two tournaments. The first is held over Labor Day weekend and is in Cumberland. The second is held over Columbus Day weekend and is in Falmouth, Sanford, or Grey.

What are the playing expectations for the different age groups?

U9s, U10s and U11’s play in a “non-competitive” format, where game scores are not reported to Soccer Maine, or used in any way for the post-season “festival”. They often play “round robins” on Sunday afternoons, with 2 games against local teams. It is expected that all players will play at least 50% each game. Once the regular season ends, there is an end-of-season “festival” of games that takes place over one weekend day in October, again, non-results-oriented.

U12s, U13s and U14s play in a competitive format, with game scores being reported to Soccer Maine each week, and post-season tournaments determining “State Champions”. Though coaches are encouraged to provided equal playing time on the field, it is not a requirement at this level.
